Vietnam roundtable meeting in Value-added textiles

Following the agreement between SECO headquarters and SECO Viet Nam on adapting the approach to the  Value-added textile sector in Vietnam, SIPPO and VCCI – Ho chi Minh City branch jointly organized a roundtable workshop on 12 September 2018. This was to update information about global textiles and to consult with experts, policy makers, associations and companies about their ideas to move the  Vietnamese textile industry up the value chain.

At the workshop, Mr. Denis Gouttenoire – SIPPO textile expert – made a key presentation about market trends and European buyers requirements such as material source compliance, environment compliance, design capacity. From the Vietnamese enterprises side, Mr. Le Quang Hung – Chairman of Saigon Garmex and Mdm. Dang Phuong Dung – former CEO of Garco 10, shared their experiences on how to shift production from CMT to FOB and confirmed this step as necessary.. The Director of VCCI Ho Chi Minh, Mr. Vo Tan Thanh and representatives of Vitas, MOIT actively engaged in the discussions. They jointly agreed to move forward with SIPPO in further developing this adapted approach.
